CAN YOU HELP A STUDENT SHAPE THEIR FUTURE?

Each year, Umoja identifies young scholars who show promise, resilience, and a deep desire to learn, but lack the means. With your voice, your reach, or your support, you can help transform a life through education. Will you share this opportunity?

Founders

Hello and welcome!

We’re Tessy and Baka, two people who simply care about giving young minds the space to grow. Umoja isn’t just a project to us; it’s something deeply personal. It’s about seeing potential in places that are too often overlooked and choosing to act.

We didn’t set out to build an organization. We just wanted to help a few students stay in school. But over time, that small act turned into a bigger dream: to create a space where young people feel seen, supported, and encouraged to keep moving forward.

Umoja means “unity,” and that’s what this is all about—bringing people together to create real change, one student at a time.

Whether you’re here out of curiosity, interest, or a desire to give back, thank you. We hope you’ll stick around, learn more, and maybe even become part of this story.

With appreciation,
Tessy & Baka

We need to reshape how underprivileged students see their own potential. They must be encouraged to rise, lead, and believe that their future is not defined by their circumstances, but by their courage to pursue knowledge.
